June 2020 Release Notes: Offline Recovery, Move Files Automatically, Restore Version, and More!
Welcome to our June 2020 Release Notes. This is where you can stay up to date on what’s new and find out what we’ve been up to at Plugg!
New Offline Recovery System
Internet connection is not always reliable, especially when working remotely from different locations. To make sure you never lose even a minute worth of your work, we've designed a new Offline Recovery System that allows you to restore any changes you've made to your document while offline. And just to be safe, we've also added a permanent alert banner that makes it very easy to notice that your internet is down.
When internet connection is lost, the system will keep recording any changes you make to an open document. Once you are back online you will have three options: restore the offline recovered version, dismiss it and keep the original, or save it as copy.
If you are not sure which version is the one you want, don't worry. Plugg will keep the recovered version saved until you either restore it or dismiss it.
Move Files Automatically in Batch
Now you can automatically move files (e.g., images, plasmid maps etc.) to their destination folders in batch, so that you don't have to move them one by one. This feature lets you automatically move files to the File Tabs of multiple records (e.g., Cell Lines) by matching the name of the individual file with any of the Record's values (e.g., record ID, record name, etc).
This feature can save you a lot of time, especially when you need to create or import a lot of new records that have associated files.
Restore Version from History
Plugg always saves your work automatically and keeps a history of all the changes you make to a document, so that you can go back and check your work. Now you can also restore an older version of a document from the Version History so that you can correct any mistakes and use the best version of your document.
New Options to Lock and Share your Records in Batch
Now you can save time by locking and sharing your records in bulk. When collaborating with other team members your needs to share or protect your documents can change over time. The new batch lock and batch share features allow you to quickly go back and change your settings for multiple documents at a time, saving you a lot of time and ensuring that your documents are always protected and everyone has access to what they need. The batch lock and batch share functions can be access through the multi edit function.
Lock…
…and share
Text Editor Update and improvements
Back in December 2019 we launched our new proprietary text editor. But that was not the end of the story! Since then we have been updating and improving it, to give you the best possible experience when writing your notes and experiments. Some of the most recent updates include:
Ability to restart numbered list from any number by right clicking on a list
View images in full screen by clicking on an image and then on the Zoom In icon
Improved spreadsheets and tables resizing and import/export functions
Even More View Options
We've added even more view options to give you all the flexibility you need when organizing your records. Now, when you sort your records by column, the changes you make won't reset to default once you leave the page. This way you can sort all your records in the way that best fits your needs, without affecting your collaborators’ viewing preferences. Also text documents like experiments, protocols, and notes can now be sorted, grouped, and filtered by the "Created By" and Created On" values, as well.
This is it for now. We hope you’ll enjoy these new features. Until next time!
